accommodation has panoramic sea views
overlooking the city & busy cruise liner
harbor. For all your self-catering needs a
supermarket is located just a short walk
away. The nearest bus-stop is located just
100 m from the entrance, where a 5 min
journey will find you in the city. The owners
live on site & are always available to offer
help or advice whenever required. The
tourism registered accommodation gives
you the best that Madeira can offer by way
of self-catering. Guests comfort & security
are the owners priority. A fully equipped
kitchen with all crockery, cutlery & cooking
implements, en suite facilities & two days
per week maid service .. The apartment is
leading out to the guests swimming pool or
balcony. The owner Maria is native from
Funchal, always been work with tourists.
Property wealthy Artoguia family
constructed the original house in 1929.
They owned the majority of the surrounding
land, which was used for agricultural
purposes. Grapes were grown for the
production of Madeira wine. Citrus fruits and
bananas were also cultivated. The property
was purchased in 1998 by the present
owners, Ian & Maria . Restoration started
soon after, to bring the building back to life
again. Care was taken not to change the
Portuguese style of the building. It was not
until two years later that plans were set in
motion to renovate the wine cellar under the
house to accommodate two self-catering
studios. Initially they were used by close
friends and family. In 2001, plans were
passed to allow the building to
accommodate two more studios, registered
with Madeira Tourist Authorities. Therefore
a third and final phase of construction was
undertaken to create on the top floor roof
level that housed Maria, Ian and their
children . Vista Oceano self catering was
launched. A joint decision was made to stay
living on the premises to enable the couple
to keep the family atmosphere with the
guests, by being available to meet and greet
as well as being available to offer any help
or assistance when needed. A very
important part of what McBride`s strive to
achieve here at Vista Oceano is a warm and
friendly `home from home`. Maria grew up in
Funchal city .
